PocketLens is built to work entirely on your device. This page explains, in plain terms, what that means and what — little — data is involved.
Camera — to photograph documents. Each photo is turned into a PDF on your device; PocketLens never transmits it anywhere.
Photos you choose to import — through Android's built-in photo picker, which only ever shares the specific images you select. PocketLens never sees, or asks for, the rest of your photo library.
Storage — scans are written as ordinary PDF files under your device's Documents folder, visible to any file manager, exactly like a file you'd created yourself.
A few parts of PocketLens hand off to Google Play's own systems, which run under Google's privacy policy, not ours:
PocketLens has no server. There is nowhere for usage analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, or an advertising ID to go, so none are collected.
Everything above describes the PocketLens app. The website you're reading this on is a separate, ordinary website, and — unlike the app — it uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read, the same way most websites do. That only covers your visit to this site; it has no connection to your scans or how you use the app, which stays exactly as private as described above.
Every scan lives in your own Documents/PocketLens folder. Deleting one in the app moves it to Trash for 30 days before it's purged automatically — or you can delete the files directly with any file manager, any time. PocketLens has nothing stored elsewhere to catch up with.
